Mormors

Mormors
Bredgade 45, 1260 København K
Monday: 08:30 a.m – 4 p.m
Tuesday to Friday: 08:30 a.m– 5 p.m
Saturday & Sunday: 11:30 a.m to 5 p.m

Completely different vibe at “Grandma’s.” I think the name (and the following photos) says it all.

The prices are a little high, I paid a little more than forty crowns for a Chai Latte (Vs less than 30 in most cafes) and 25 DKK for a scone. But it is the Nyhavn/Amalienborg district (just two steps from Marmor Kirken), the tourists area by excellence, by the way Grandma also sells souvenirs!

Driver License

If your driver’s license is issued in an EU country, Norway, Lichenstein, Iceland or the Faroes, you do not need to exchange it for a Danish one. If your license is valid for more than 15 years you can use it for 2 years before you change it. However, if you wish to apply for a Danish drivers license you may do so.

You must meet up in person at a Borger Service (Inner City, Sundby or Bispebjerg, it doesn’t matter) – open Mon-Wed: 10.00-17.00, Thurs: 9.00-18.00, Fri: 10.00-15.00.

You have to bring:

– Your national driver’s license, if the original is lost, a confirmation of the existing is necessary, not older than 1 month.

– A valid passport

– A passport picture (you can have it taken there for DKK95 for 2)

– If you are not a Nordic citizen, you must bring your residence permit

– 280DKK (the license is not free) – payment only in cash or with Dankort or Visadankort.

No test to take.

You will receive a temporary drivers license valid for 2 or 3 months and you will receive your license directly in your mailbox home.
It is valid for 15 years, then you have to renew it, mostly to update the picture.

edit 10/30/2014 : If you need and international driver license, go back to the Borgerservice Center with your danish license, an ID pic, and avec votre permis danois, 25 DKK, it will be done in less than 5 minutes !

Moving

When you are moving (in Denmark), you have 2 things to do, or I should say 2 places you have to declare it. To the Folkeregistret so you’ll get your new CPR card and to the Post. You can do both online in 5 minutes. And that’s it.
A few days ago I went on my online banking to change my info but they already had everything updated! That is just wonderful when you come from France, where everything takes weeks and never even work in the end.

If you are moving from Copenhagen to another place in Copenhagen, you go there.
If you are moving to another commune, you go to borger.dk, for example for me, Frederiksberg was here. But you can change the town on the upper right. Everything on this site is in Danish, so you have to chose “Anmeld flytning til folkeregistret” and use your nemID, and everything else should be pretty easy to understand, or Google Translate is enough. Because basically they only ask who is moving (if it’s only you or if you have a whole family following), your actual address and the new one. If there is already someone registered at this address and who stays there (for example you move in a shared-flat) you have one box to check.
You can choose to change your doctor too. You receive your new CPR card in a week.
You have 5 days after you moved to do this! But you can do it 2 or 3 weeks before already.

For the Post, you go there and follow “Gå til ePosthuset og meld flytning”. You also use your nemID. They ask if it is a definitive or temporary change, and you simply give your new address and the moving date (you have to do it 5 days before at least). It’s free. And it works well, I had a few letters redirected from the first day. And that too, is magical when one come from France 😉

Transit Pass

I received my bus card in 4 days. You can have it done at a DSB office, but if you don’t need it immediately, ordering on the net will save you the cost of the passport photos – between 100 and 130 DKK.
You go there: https://www.dsb.dk/find-og-kob/indland/kob-produkter/hovedstadsomradet/opret-periodekort/?Secure=true
You chose the zones that interest you and the numbers of days you want (at least 30) For exemple a month for 2 zones cost 350 DKK. When you know a 2 zones Klippekort with 10 ways cost 150 DKK, the calculation is quickly made, it is very advantageous (unless, of course, you usually bikes to work / school everyday!).
